Isn’t she lovely? This vintage 1950s wedding dress is crafted from a ivory silk satin. It’s the heavy sort of satin, kind of formed and structured. I just love the ecru lace applique that cascades along the front of the layered skirt. This vintage wedding dress would be ideal for the modern day bride with a penchant for vintage, rustic, and a bit shabby chic. I just imagine the bride wearing a short little veil and pretty kitten heels. Her beau of course would be wearing a bow tie!

For vintage inspired wedding ideas be sure to check out my vintage blog for lots of wedding receptions ideas, vintage wedding dresses, and other pretty things!

I’m still finalizing some touches on the main adorevintage shop site, but for now you can check out more vintage wedding dresses and accessories in my etsy shop. I meant to have it done much sooner, but life has been c-r-a-z-y! (In a good way!)

More vintage shop updates soon!

Just updated the vintage etsy shop with antique and vintage purses mostly from the 1920s although some could be a little earlier and some could be a bit later.

Dating vintage purses and bags… definitely need to do more research on this topic!

I really love the “Once Upon A Fairy Tale” vintage 1920s tapestry bag. The motif is so whimsical and sweet! Don’t you agree? Perhaps worn with a little floaty flapper dress. Or you could just add some girlie touches to your simple skirt and blouse look.

Here are some pictures of the antique purses I added into Adorevintage etsy shop… to buy these vintage bags, be sure to visit Adorevintage on Etsy!

A couple of weeks ago I traveled to Arizona and stopped at an antique mall in the middle of nowhere. It was quite a pleasant surprise as there were a bunch of antique Edwardian and Victorian dresses, antique hats, and vintage jackets. I didn’t buy any of those antique clothes though because I simply didn’t have a need for them and they looked too much like costumes. Great for vintage inspiration for a costumer, but not really for everyday wear.

However, I did spot this amazing vintage 1920s wedding dress hanging in a bit of a hidden corner. I instantly noticed the lace details on the hem, so exquisite! This vintage wedding dress would be ideal for a romantic flapper inspired wedding or a rural wedding in a barn or vineyard with a wreath of florals in your hair en lieu of a traditional veil. Although you could wear a wreath of flowers with a small lace veil, that would be so romantic and so beautiful!

I have a couple of antique Edwardian clothes in my vintage etsy shop, like this vintage edwardian top. And if you’re looking for a vintage 1920s dress that you can wear to a wedding but not be the bride, I also have this beautiful cream colored layered vintage 1920s chiffon flapper dress.

I will still be updating the design of the main vintage shop… I meant to have it done by yesterday, but instead I needed a much needed day off (although I still did find some time to steam and hand wash a few vintage cocktail dresses which I will be photographing in my studio this evening).

Have a pleasant day everyone!

Hello there vintage world! Welcome to Adorevintage – a vintage clothing store based in Hollywood, CA.

My site has gone through a lot of changes throughout the years and if you’ve been with me since the beginning you are probably aware of how often Adorevintage has changed! But change is a good thing!

So, you’ve probably noticed I’ve changed the main image on the front of the site and the layout (obviously). I wanted the design to reflect my love for vintage but also my appreciation for clean and uncluttered spaces. I do hope you like the new design!

As a seller of vintage goods and a wardrobe stylist in Los Angeles, my day to day life is almost always about clothes, clothes, and more clothes. Here are 10 things you can do to have a greener wardrobe.

1.] Wear Vintage! This shouldn’t come as a surprise (hehe) and I’m not telling you wearing vintage will make your wardrobe more eco friendly just because I am a purveyor of vintage goods…wearing vintage DOES make you more eco friendly because you are recycling clothing! Some fabulous places to buy vintage: Etsy, Ebay, and Adorevintage (*wink*)

2.] Shop at second hand or consignment shops If vintage isn’t your thing (my heart just broke a little) you can still be green by shopping for modern day fashions at consignment shops like Crossroads Trading, Buffalo Exchange, and Wasteland. Check YELP to find out what consignment shops are in your area.

3.] It’s ok to be a little dirty Washing your clothes too often shortens the life of the garment not to mention wastes a ton of water and energy. Unless you ran a marathon in that little black dress you wore to dinner, just hang it by an open window with a spritz of linen spray (I love lavender or cotton scents) to let it air out and then store it back in your closet. After a few wears then by all means wash it.

4.] Your clothes should chill Wash everything in cold water, saves energy (and lower gas bill, hurrah!) If you must use hot water, opt for the Warm/Cold option.

5.] Green up your laundry detergent Eco friendly laundry is sometimes very expensive, so a simple (and cheap) way to cut down on using so much of the chemical laden detergent is to cut the amount you use in half and add some good old baking soda to the mix. If you’re not counting your pennies, here’s a fantastic review of 6 Green Laundry Detergents

6.] Avoid the Dry Cleaners Ok, I’m kind of guilty of using the dry cleaners, but I only take delicate vintage dresses I can’t clean on my own to the cleaners. Otherwise, most of items that say “Dry Clean Only” I handwash in my bathtub and hang in my windows to dry.

7.] Fix it first before you ditch it If a dress has a couple tears here and there or a stain, instead of ditching it, have it altered. If your shoes are looking a bit worn in, take it to a cobbler and have them fixed instead of buying new ones. If your handbag strap broke, get it stitched back on.

8.] Buy clothing really love and skip the fashion fads If you buy clothing you really love, you are more likely to wear it longer and take better care of it. There was that harem pant phase and it seemed like every mainstream shop was carrying their version of them, I just knew it wasn’t for me (not to mention they’re very unflattering on almost everyone), so I said “thanks fashion world, but no thanks”. Buy what you love and skip the trends. The Earth and your wallet will thank you.

9.] Shop Greener Bring your own bags or say “No bag needed” when you shop. Buffalo Exchange and Crossroads Trading has a fantastic little system when you say “no” to a bag. You get a little token instead (worth 5 cents) that goes toward a charity they support.

10.] Green your closet + storage Stop using metal hangers. They’re ugly anyway. Use plastic hangers so if you need to, you can recycle them later on or donate to a thrift shop. You can also check Craigslist to see if any stores are getting rid of their hangers instead of buying new ones. Use recycled furniture to store your clothing and accessories. I use vintage travel cases to store my jewelry and all the dressers in my house were flea market or Craigslist finds.
